EwwCode is a social network where developers post code and other developers rate and roast it. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect what the product needs to work, we do not sell it, and we do not show ads.
Account information. When you sign in with GitHub or Google we receive your basic profile from that provider: your name, email address, avatar, and provider account ID. We use it to create and operate your EwwCode account.
Content you create. Code posts, titles, ratings, roasts and comments, reactions, follows, saved collections, Standup room content, custom avatars, and settings. Code you post is displayed publicly exactly as you submitted it. We scan submissions for accidentally included secrets (API keys, tokens) before publishing and we never execute submitted code.
Repository imports. If you import a snippet from GitHub, we access public repositories only, and we store the attribution (repository, path) with the post. We store the OAuth token GitHub provides encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and use it only to power the features you invoke.
Usage data. We record which posts you have seen so feeds can rank unseen content, plus standard technical logs (IP address, browser type) kept by our hosting providers for security and abuse prevention.
The individual ratings you give are always private. Other users see aggregate scores, never who rated what. Saved collections are private by default. Standup rooms are private to their members. Anonymous posts hide your identity publicly; we retain the link internally solely for moderation.
We do not sell or rent your data. We do not show ads or share data with advertisers. We do not send notification emails; notifications are in-app only, with one exception: an optional product announcement list you can opt out of in Settings.
We host on Render (application and database, United States) with Cloudflare in front for security and delivery. AI roasts are generated by sending the posted code snippet to our AI provider; snippets sent for roasting are not used by us for any other purpose. Sign-in is handled by GitHub and Google under their own privacy policies.
We use session cookies to keep you signed in. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
You can deactivate your account in Settings; deactivation hides your profile and content everywhere, and signing back in restores it. You can delete your account in Settings; deletion has a 14-day grace period (signing in cancels it), after which your account and content are removed. Ratings you gave survive deletion only as anonymous numbers inside aggregate scores.
Reports, blocks, and moderation actions are processed by us to keep the platform safe. Accounts that break the rules can be suspended; we keep an internal audit log of moderation actions.
EwwCode is not directed at children under 13, and you must be old enough to hold a GitHub or Google account under their terms.
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date above. Questions: contact us at the support email shown on our sign-in consent screen.
